A lot of us spent 2024 dreading the coming January for fear of the United States' Government unjustly blocking our First Amendment Rights. This is not the first time the U.S. has threatened to ban the ByteDance app, but it is certainly more anxiety-inducing this time around.
So much information is being released about the proposed ban and how the government is handling it, it's no wonder everyone is looking for a reliable news source.
At first everyone thought the beloved app would just fizzle out when updates would become unavailable, then we were scared into thinking it would just "go dark" on Sunday. Now they're saying they may overturn the ban, block the ban, or simply put it off a few weeks.
In typical response to the United States' fascist regime, the American people did exactly what the News' propaganda told them not to do. They went directly to China's app, Xiaohongshu, to join.
America was founded on the belief people are entitled to think for themselves and be ruled by themselves. However, as with most governments, it has recently become clear it is imploding on said position. It is becoming harder to deny how corrupt the U.S. leaders have become. No one trusts the police anymore, let alone the people we vote into power.
It is so subjugated now people have gone in droves to learn not only a new language, but a new alphabet as well. Duolingo, Memrise, and other language learning apps are seeing a rise in downloads to aid in this boycott of America's censorship.
Xiahongshu (Little Red Book) has a very strict set of rules to abide by, but for the most part the U.S. people are doing their level best to be respectful and follow the communist laws set forth by China's government. Even though it means changing their content for some, the U.S. citizens have received a warm welcome from the people of China and it is lovely.
After American Propaganda has spent decades trying to segregate our nations, in less than a week China has successfully shown us all to be family. We are, after all, one race of people (humanity) sharing the same home (Planet Earth).
If the United States of America does decide, ultimately, to allow us to keep our TikTok app, we may head back there... but the changes the U.S. want so badly to implement would make such an action unlikely. The culture people have created on TikTok has evolved into something beautiful which cannot be recreated on any other platform. The truth is, the majority of "TikTok Refugees" will opt to stay on Xiaohongshu with the new friendships they've found.
